More than six months after Adam Lanza shot and killed his mother in their Connecticut home, a memorial service has been scheduled for Nancy Lanza . As everyone knows after Adam shot his mother to death, he then proceeded to go to Sandy Hook Elementary School where he shot and killed 26 people, 20 children and six faculty members.

The Memorial service is set for today and will be held at First Congregational Church in Kingston, NH , where Nancy once lived. There was a private funeral for Nancy on December 20th, almost a week after untimely death. As for Adam, his father claimed the remains of his body and are planning a private burial for him as well, a specific place has not been revealed, I’m assuming that’s for the safety of the family member that may be attending.

Nancy has been described by everyone as a devoted mother, even though many people blamed her for the shooting that occurred on December 14th, 2012. People felt that her using the shooting ranges as a way to cope and bond with her son was irresponsible of her knowing that he had a mental condition.

After the shooting the government started looking at the nations gun laws, coming from someone who lived in Connecticut almost my entire life, Connecticut is one of the states with the strictest gun laws. The problem is, when someone buys a gun, they don’t do a mental evaluation or criminal background on the other member in the home. All the guns used in the shooting were purchased legally by Nancy and kept in her home, after she was killed Adam took them from the home and proceeded to the elementary school. Our hearts still go out to all the families effected by the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
