James Gandolfini, best known for his role as Tony Soprano in the HBO series The Sopranos has passed away. Gandolfini won three Emmy’s for his performance on the show which lasted for six seasons. Gandolfini leaves behind his wife, former model Deborah Lin and two children, a son with his ex-wife Marcy Wudarski and a baby girl with Lin.
Gandolfini was attending a vacationing in Italy when he suffered a massive heart attack. He was said to be heading to Sicily for the Taormina Film Festival where he was expected to arrive tomorrow afternoon. Original reports on this story said that he could have died from a stroke, but numerous reports have stated it was in fact a massive heart attack.
The extremely modest actor didn’t really make it big until his role on The Sopranos, however his role there lead him to other main roles in some really amazing films. He played the mayor of New York in The Taking Of Pelham 123, he also stared in the controversial film Zero Dark Thirty as the CIA Director. He was nominated for Washington D.C. Area Film Critics Association Award for Best Ensemble for his role in that movie as well.
James Gandolfini will always be one of my favorite actors and he will be greatly missed by many. My thoughts, prayers and condolences to his family and friends.
