It has been reported that Janet Napolitano is resigning from her post as the Secretary of Homeland Security. She is only the third person to lead the Department of Homeland Security in the 10 years it has been around and is said to be making a career change. Napolitano has been offered a new job in California, to find out what it is, you better keep reading!Napolitano has been offered and has accepted a position with the State of California’s University system as their new President, this will include universities such as UCLA, University of California, Berkeley and many other top universities. Napolitano had released a statement thanking President Obama for giving her the opportunity to work with the dedicated men and women who help keep this country safe from harm.
President Obama also released a statement saying, “At the Department of Homeland Security, Janet’s portfolio has included some of the toughest challenges facing our country. She’s worked around the clock to respond to natural disasters, from the Joplin tornado to Hurricane Sandy, helping Americans recover and rebuild,” he continued to say that the American people are safer and more secure thanks to her efforts.
Napolitano also served as the Governor and State’s Attorney General in Arizona before being offered the job at Homeland Security.
