Latest From The George Zimmerman Trial!

So I felt that I needed to write something on this case, I haven’t been following it much but I have some of the latest information for the George Zimmerman trial. As you all may know Zimmerman is being charged with second degree murder in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin which occurred February 26th, 2012.Friday was a pretty emotional day in court and the jury in the case has a lot of information to take in after the mother’s of both the accused and the victim in this case took the stand. Both Martin’s mother and Zimmerman’s mother had the same thing to say, that it was their son’s voice on the 911 call recording.

So whose voice is on that tape, is it Zimmerman pleading to Martin or Martin pleading for his life? I don’t know that we will ever know the real answer to this question, especially because there weren’t any credible witnesses to the events of that night. Martin’s girlfriend testified that it was Martin, but she wasn’t actually there at the time of the incident, she was on the phone with him. Sybrina Fulton, Martin’s mother, also testified that it was clearly her son’s scream that can be heard on this tape.

Later that day after the prosecution rested and the judge denied the defenses request for an acquittal, the defense started by calling Gladys Zimmerman to the stand and she testified that it was her son’s voice saying she new it was her son “because he’s my son.” There was also testimony from Zimmerman’s uncle saying that he overheard the recording on the news one day and that it was Zimmerman’s voice he heard on that tape.

So now that the defense has started their case, the judge clearly thinks that the defense needs this chance to prove their case, what will happen from here? Do you think that the prosecution had enough evidence to prove his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt? I don’t, I think that there is still a lot that we don’t understand, for instance, if Zimmerman didn’t know there was a “stand your ground” law, why did he pull his gun?

I will keep you posted on the next phase of testimony, we also have to be on the lookout for the new sentencing trial for Jodi Arias which will be starting in just a couple short weeks!
